2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs 2024 Ford Explorer
If you're in the market for your first family SUV or seeking to upgrade, the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2024 Ford Explorer are two contenders worth considering. Both offer a refined and well-appointed interior and excellent off-road capabilities.
Engine and Performance
The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee has three engine options. The base engine is a 2.0-liter Turbo engine, which delivers 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The 2024 Grand Cherokee also offers a 3.6-liter PENTASTAR V-6 engine with an output of 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. You can opt for the more powerful 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine with a maximum output of 357 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque.
Like the Grand Cherokee, the new Ford Explorer offers more than one engine option. Its base engine is a 2.3-liter ECOBOOST inline-four engine with 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Higher trims like the ST, King Ranch, and Platinum have a 3.0-liter V-6, outputting 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque.
Interior Comfort and Technology
The interior of the 2024 Grand Cherokee features luxurious leather-appointed seating with up to 16-way adjustment and an available massage mode. Thanks to its intuitive 10.1-inch UConnect 5 infotainment system, it scores highly in entertainment and connectivity.
The 2024 Ford Explorer's interior uses plenty of plastics, which, although nice, don't evoke the same luxurious look and feel of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. This iteration of the Explorer also comes standard with an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen.
While the Ford Explorer may have a slight edge in horsepower on the base trim, the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee triumphs with superior interior design, towing capabilities, and technology.
