Just 15 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, Rockford, MI offers fun activities for the whole family. Check out our 5 favorite ways to spend an autumn day around town.

1. Take a Walk at Luton Park

Spend the day in nature at Luton Park, where you’ll find nearly 10 miles of biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking trails. Look for local birds as you traverse native forests and marshes, with bridges to cross over Rum Creek.

Luton Park is open from 7 a.m. to sunset through October 31. While you can visit during the off-season (November through March), especially if you drive a Jeep, some trails may be too snowy to pass on foot. The park is located at 5950 10 Mile Road NE.

2. Enjoy the Annual Harvest Fest

Welcome the new season at the Harvest Festival in downtown Rockford. This year’s event will take place from September 27 to 29, with a packed schedule that includes live entertainment, a chili cook-off, craft booths, an attic sale, a vintage truck show and parade, a scarecrow craft, rotary chicken dinners, and a classic car show. The festivities will take place at various locations along 10 Mile Road and in the downtown area.

3. Join Us At a Trunk or Treat

At this annual family event, kids can wear their Halloween costumes to collect candy and other treats! You’ll also find balloon animal giveaways and fun photo opportunities. Trunk or Treat will be held at Rockford City Hall, 7 South Monroe St. Take note that it’s a new location for this year’s festivities. The event is free, but you can register in advance on the Rockford Chamber of Commerce website. We hope to see you there!

4. Shop at the Rogue River Artists Association Holiday Art Market

Shop local and handmade at the annual RRAA Holiday Art Market. More than 20 members sell their artwork at this fall event, including jewelry, photography, cards, decorations, stained glass, and much more. The market takes place on November 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bella Vista Church, 5100 Belding Road NE.

5. Visit Pinball Land

Enjoy seven themed rooms full of retro pinball games at this unique arcade. You won’t need quarters at Pinball Land. Instead, you’ll get unlimited play for the admission fee of $9 for an hour, $15 for two hours, and $20 for the entire day. Pinball Land is located at 114 Courtland St. It’s open Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m., Friday from 2 to 10 p.m., Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
